Independent Contractor (Self-Employed) or Employee?

Not sure if your new worker and Independent Contractor or an employee? The IRS has very particular guidelines when making this decision. Were you aware that your state unemployment tax rate may change from year to year? Each year, your state employment security commission mails your annual tax rate to your place of business. It is crucial that you forward your rate each year to your Account Manager either by mail, email, or fax. Monday February 21st is a Federal Holiday

Checks and direct deposits cannot be dated for Monday. Likewise, ACH files cannot be processed on Monday. This means we will require an extra day for payroll processing. Direct Deposits dated for Tuesday February 22nd will need to be reported before 3pm today. Direct Deposits dated for Wednesday February 23rd will need to be reported before 3pm on Friday.
